Give a Gobbler Comes to Bulldog Pantry
(Copy by University Communications news intern Nicole Maul)
For the fifth year, Fresno State’s “Give a Gobbler” campaign will provide student-produced turkeys for the holidays to families across the Central Valley through Community Food Bank, Poverello House and the newest addition Bulldog Pantry! For $25, donors can purchase turkeys at the student-run Rue and Gwen Gibson Farm Market that will be donated to one of the three groups. New this year: donations of $5, 10 and 15 can also be made to go toward the purchase of a turkey.
Donation checks can be made out to Agricultural Foundation of California State University, Fresno and sent to Agricultural Operations, c/o director, California State University, Fresno, 2385 East Barstow Ave., M/S AG85, Fresno CA 93740. Store hours for the Gibson Farm Market, located at Barstow and Chestnut avenues, are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.

Bulldog Pantry Opens Second Location
With the help and support of Fresno State’s Associated Students Inc. (ASI), and Revitalize Fresno, the Bulldog Pantry will open up a second location in El Dorado Park on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011. Students from the Interfaith Project have adopted Nov. 12, and Dec. 3 as distribution days at Wesley United Methodist for 2011.
Student groups that adopt a day will be asked to collect donations (monetary and food), assist with picking up the food at Fresno Community Food Bank, packing the food, and distribution of the food. Groups that raise $200 will receive matching funds, up to $200 from ASI to purchase food for this location.
Inaugural “Will Walk for Food” is a SUCCESS!
The inaugural “Will Walk for Food” fun run/walk that took place on Saturday, September 10, 2011, was a huge success! Over 85 participants participated in a 2 mile walk or 5 mile run at O’Neil Park on the Fresno State campus. They enjoyed entertainment by HR7, a delicious meal prepared by Fresno State’s very own Culinology Club, raffle prizes and more. The event raised approximately $3,500 which will be used to purchase food for the Bulldog Pantry! We can’t wait to plan the run/walk for next year.
Another BIG thank you to our event sponsors… (in alphabetical order) Eye-Q Vision Care, EECU, Fresno State Alumni Association, Kremen Alumni Association Board and Friends, Tacos Marquitos, and Wawona Frozen Foods.

The Bulldog Pantry is a Fresno State student run food pantry. We provide groceries to students and families in need in the areas surrounding Fresno State. We open our doors almost every Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m. during the school year.
We are proud to say we’ve been open since November 2007 and are helping provide over 150 families with groceries every week. Congratulations to all our student volunteers for over 3 years of success! May we continue to provide such an excellent service for years to come.
